A Subtle Change
With the up-coming retirement of my English supervisor, I forsee a gradual shift in allegiance from the English department to the History Department. The only trouble is that I want to take the one other medieval English PhD with me, and she's very shy.
It starts with a History seminar today, and will probably follow with many others. One of the problems being that, as my thesis is under both English and History, I will need another English supervisor, and the only one marginally suitable for the job is one of these heavy theory people. Not sure quite what to do about that.
In randomness, there was an add on the side of one of my pages, for corsets, at Exotic Footwear.co.au. An interesting mix, and unlikely that I could find either footwear or corsets to fit. I've had a very depressing winter-boot search, as my absolute favourite ankle-boots from last year cannot make it through another year, and I can't find anything marginally Victorian-lace-up to replace them, except at Kumfs, costing $400! I have the fluffy boots of doom, but they don't fit under jeans or long skirts.
Also, we watched the BBC prodution of Tess of the D'Urbavilles (for zcatcurious's class), and I spent most of the time lusting after those long skirts and beautiful shirt-waist jackets. But that sort of outfit is for another year - I don't have time to make anything like that at the moment. Though Your Wardrobe Unlock'd has a great pattern challenge on roughly the right stuff...
Argh! Time to write something in the thesis, or finish the jacket, or something! Not sit here whittering away!
