One day I will update this. But today it's just about Harmeet.
Harmeet Singh Sooden was my student this last semester. He was quiet, studious, and towards the end of term I had some opportunities to have conversation with him. It quickly came out how passionate he was about peace, and how his family background in Kashmir had effected him. Also, growing up in Zambia, he had plenty of oppportunity to see real poverty, of the kind that most of us in NZ can't imagine. He told me he was going to Palestine over the holidays, and it seems from reports that he had been there before.
Harmeet went to Iraq with a good grasp of what the situation was like there. He is quiet and gentle, but determined to do his bit for peace, no matter what the cost to himself.
To those of you who pray, chant, or with any religious affiliation, I would ask that you remember him in your communion with higher powers.
And there is an online petition, linked here:

(Sorry, no time to check how to make it linky)
I don't know how much good a petition will do, but it's better than doing nothing.
