Reality bites hard
Oct. 7th, 2007 08:56 pmBeing stressed for two weeks is not fun. Trying to write one paper for two weeks is not fun.
It's not even as if it is very long. But that is part of the problem: I'm writing something for this Tuesday's MEDEMS seminar. This means that it should take about 50 mins to read, which according to my supervisor, means it should be not much more than 5000 words. And that is a really awkward length, because it's too long to brush over the basics, and far too short to really deal with anything in detail. I can neither just say "I think I found who wrote the Wilton Chronicle", nor can I take a semester's worth of lectures.
It meant I had to miss the Wolverine-pup's birthday celebrations - though I did get to watch the All Black lose to France, while trying to think what to write. And it will mean that I miss my family's celebration for Dad's birthday tomorrow, because there is no way I can spend that evening having fun. I have a whole hour between the end of teaching on Tuesday, and the MEDEMS seminar. Somehow I have to have my paper finished, and lots of pretty pictures to distract the audience.
So, I'm going to stop procrastinating and get back to work.
(And it's been the first really beautiful weekend for gardening. I looked at my irises awaiting planting...)
(And I now have only 1 fish. The others just slowly died off, one by one, with no noticable pattern.)
