Of the kindness of semi-strangers
Feb. 5th, 2009 07:05 amSo I am sitting in a warm little flat, overlooking a gradually more snowy park scene* while my husband cooks our first self-catered meal for 2 weeks, and it's all thanks to someone who I haven't seen for ages - possibly since my wedding nearly 9 years ago.
My mother apparently ran into this girl back in NZ to get married, and on hearing that we were in Edinburgh, SJ offered us the use of her flat. As we were wondering how we would afford the final week of our stay in the UK, and not enjoying having to eat out every night, we jumped at the chance. So we are now living free in a flat much the same size as ours, and able to cook our own food! However, this means that zcc has to give up the FULL cooked breakfast from our very genial hosts at Cherry-Tree Villa - which we highly recommend.
Ooh, dinner is ready - more later.
*Okay, it's actually dark outside, and the curtains are closed, but there is a park outside, and it is snowing!
