It has finally happened: I have been seduced by a lady in red. My Former says she's just a scarlet hussy. I'm going to see her soon, having just found a way of preventing anyone else from getting their hands on her hot, tight little body.
On Tuesday, we took the Galant in for a service and WOF, aware that it had been making strange noises, was having trouble in the gear-box, etc. We had discussed what we would do if our trusty steed (16) of 5 years was ready to be put down, but didn't really look too far ahead.
Then, while lunching with
doc_spatial, the call came through: the transmission needed a major overhaul, which would cost between $3,000 and $5,000. The car was no longer worth the lowest estimate, so we realised that our relationship with it had come to an end. We wandered back up to the Mitsubishi yard, where we have had our car serviced since we bought it, and the owners before us, all the way back to when it first entered the country. And there before us, a beautiful sight: a scarlet Colt, small, round(ish), with low milage and good economy. It was love at second sight. (The first red one we saw didn't start, and smelt smokey.)
So, for the cost of a decent second hand-car, which cost we will have to pay two more times, we are the proud owners of a 2003 Mitsubishi Colt, 1.3lt, CVT, in (and this is the important bit, folks) Fire Engine Red.
The Galant is dead: long live Miss Scarlett!
